7 Days Marangu Route

Leave the hotel in Moshi for Maragu gate, where you will register. After registrations, you will trek through the rainforest to mandara hut. Use this is an opportunity to acclimate by visiting Maundi Crater.

After early breakfast, you will climb up the rainforest and trek to Horombo Hut, where you will trek through rolling moorlands and get your first clear view of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Your hike today is designed for acclimatization and takes you on the diverted path from Horombo to the Zebra rocks formation within the heather and moorland zone before taking you back down to the huts for a second night.

Today is an acclimatization day. After breakfast we will hike towards the Mawenzi Ridge, where we will enjoy epic views of Kibo and Mawenzi. We will enjoy Lunch and then hike back down to camp where we will spend the rest of the day.

Today is an acclimatization day. After breakfast we will hike towards the Mawenzi Ridge, where we will enjoy epic views of Kibo and Mawenzi. We will enjoy Lunch and then hike back down to camp where we will spend the rest of the day.

  • Hiking Time: 5-7 hours
  • Habitat: Alpine Desert

Early wake up, then we begin a gradual climb across the lunar desert also known as the “saddle.” We will camp at the Kibo Huts. After we arrive at camp you will need to sleep and rest as much as possible because at night, we will begin the climb to the summit.

Very early wakeup, we depart from camp and begin the climb to the summit. Once we reach Gilman’s Point, we will only have 2 hours left until we reach the summit. After your successful ascent to Uhuru Peak - the top of Mount Kilimanjaro and the last point of the climb on the Marangu Route, you will have reached the highest point in all of Africa. From the Summit, you will begin our descent to Kibo Hut and enjoy a warm lunch. After lunch, we will hike down to the Horombo Camp and later in the evening we will enjoy our last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep.

After a warm breakfast, you will head for the park's exit: Marangu Gate. After your descent the whole group will gather at the hotel where we will present you with your commemorative certificates.
